Web Developer

About me

My name is Hugo Arriojas (Ah-ree-oh-has) and I am a front-end web developer with a passion for problem solving and hope to work with you to bring our design to life.

I'm a graduate of Dalhousie University & Juno College's Immersive Web Development Bootcamp and I love using my diverse set of skills to build accessible and immersive user experiences. As an ex-marine biologist, I have a strong passion for science, and I aim to bring the same propensity for precision into my code.

Born & raised in Venezuela, I hope to use my skills to create a more accessible web for everyone and to create a more interconnected world. I excel in client-facing and challenging data-driven positions and Iā€™m always working towards learning more technologies and improving my current stack as a developer.

If you like what you see in my portfolio, send me a message and we can create something beautiful, together!

Reactive Retail

Reactive Retail is a mock eCommerce site built entirely in React using the FakeStore API and Firebase integration. In the app, users can filter through a variety of products via category, add items to their cart, and also convert product prices to different currencies.

GIF Me The Weather

A paired programming project, GIF Me The Weather uses three separate APIs to help plan out the user's week. The user can search any city and receive the weekly forecast along with representative GIFs of the weather as well as an activity suggestion for the day.

Not So Social Event Planner

This React group project works as a social planner where users are able to submit weekly events into a planner. Should the user choose to not go through with their social commitments, they are able to check out what shows are streaming at the time. This agency-style exercise, the project scope being outlined in a client brief as would be seen in a typical workplace.

Delicious PSD Conversion

This was a multi-page conversion of a PSD design given to us in our bootcamp. Our task was to make a multi-page functional and responsive site, while maintaining good practices for accessibility.
